Our Clinics & Services

The practice offers a wide varity of patient services including:

Minor Surgery

All of our doctors undertake minor operations & injections at the surgery. The doctor will discuss with you any possible procedure prior to carrying out the surgery.

Child Health Surveillance

All of our doctors provide this service for their own patients under the age of 5 years. It will involve consultations with your doctor and the practice attached health visitor. The checks are designed to follow your child’s health and development.

Maternity services are provided by all the doctors for their patients. Patients should initially book to see the practice midwife when they have confirmed their pregnancy and if possible before the 10 week of pregnancy. Antenatal appointments will be arranged following this initial appointment. In this practice we follow the ‘shared care’ principle which means that your ante-natal appointments will alternate between the doctor and the midwife once you have informed the practice of your pregnancy. Your doctor will also make your initial hospital appointment. Following the birth of your child you will be contacted by the Health Visitor as part of your postnatal care.

Ante-natal Clinics

These clinics are available at each surgery please call to arrange an appointment

We support full immunisation of all our patients. This includes childhood immunisations and travel vaccines. Tetanus boosters should be updated every ten years until there is a total of five documented injections, when cover can be considered adequate for life.

Flu Injections

Flu injection clinics are held in the autumn of each year. We recommend these to all patients over 65 years of age, those with chronic medical conditions and those living in a residential home. Once the vaccine is available we will arrange suitable clinics. Appointments can be made from September onwards.

We keep a list of patients, who are carers i.e. a person who is looking after someone. If you are a carer, would you please let a receptionist know.

Childhood Immunisations

Children who have just had an immunisation and develop a temperature or are irritable can be given paracetamol suspension at the correct dose for their age.

If you are concerned about the health of your child on the day of immunisation please discuss this with the Practice Nurse before the immunisation.

Full details of all chidrens’ immunisations are kept by the nurses. If you require specific information on this please speak to them.

Contraceptive Services

A full and confidential service is provided by all of the doctors for any patients of the practice. Our nurses are also trained in this area and can give advice, though not initiate oral contraception. Please ask your doctor or nurse for details.

Cervical Smears

A full screening is provided at both surgeries. Smears should be performed every 3 years for women from 25 –49 years of age and every 5 years for women from 50 – 64 years of age. Women over 65 only need screening if they have not had a smear since the age of 50. Smears are not carried out routinely under the age of 25. Smears are performed by the practice nurse.

Health Promotion

Both surgeries run clinics to help patients suffering from diabetes, asthma, heart disease and other conditions. We also provide appointments for wellperson checks, weight checks, smoking cessation and other health promotion advice. Please speak to the receptionist, nurse or your doctor about these services.

We offer a phlebotomy service to our patients.

We offer a complete NHS travel service in line with our NHS contract including  diphtheria, tetanus, polio, hepatitis A, typhoid.

As travel is an ever increasing specialist service we can signpost all travellers to the relevant local service after an initial written assessment has been carried out.
