About Our Surgery
Reepham & Aylsham Medical Practice is a four partner GP practice in rural Norfolk, with a surgery in the market towns of Reepham and Aylsham. See the team here.
Both surgeries have a dispensary (link to prescriptions page) and our practice boundary (link to relevant section on this page) covers approximately 6 miles. We are here to provide the first point of contact for healthcare and provide services for approximately 9000 patients.
Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) makes sure we are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led in the services we provide to our patients through regular inspection.
Find out more about our latest inspection on the CQC website.
Email Address
The practice email address is [email protected]. Patients MUST NOT use this for clinical communication as we are unable to guarantee the response time frame.
Monitoring of this email address is during opening hours only (link to section in page).
If a patient requests for us to send clinical information to them via email, the security of this is their responsibility although we may use encryption and/or password protection to assist with this where appropriate.
GP Partner Earnings
All practices are required to declare the average pay for a GP working to deliver services to patients.
The average pay for a GP working at Reepham & Aylsham Medical Practice in the last year was £88,519 before tax and National Insurance. This is calculated against one full-time, four-part time and one locum GP who worked in the Practice for more than six months in this period.
Greener Practice
This practice is delighted to be signed up to the Green Impact for Health Toolkit and is actively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint. The climate emergency is also a health emergency, and health care in the UK contributes 4-5% of the UK’s carbon emissions. We need to enhance the health of today’s population without compromising the health of future generations, and this means operating within the sustainable boundaries of the planet. Fortunately, most of the solutions for the planet also make our health better – for example eating a mainly plant-based diet, engaging in active travel and exercise in nature, avoiding smoking, reducing pollution etc. These all enhance our health and reduce our need for medications, with further benefits to the NHS, your health and the carbon footprint of healthcare.
Integrated Care System & Board
Reepham and Aylsham Medical Practice is part of the Norfolk & Waveney Integrated Care System (NWICS). Under the Health and Care Act (2022) NWICS includes the statutory body of NHS Norfolk & Waveney Integrated Care Board (NWICB) who are responsible for the planning and purchasing of local health services.
See the NWICS and NWICB websites for more information.
Medical Research
The Reepham & Aylsham Medical Practice promote, develop, and participate in research studies. This is essential work to help identify interventions and treatments that can help support patients in their future care.
Patients may be informed in consultation or contacted by us when research opportunities present. If you are interested in taking part in these studies, we will inform you on what you need to do this at the time.

Placements and Training
Our surgery is committed to supporting a diverse skill mix of clinical staff and are happy to support multiple student and trainee programmes. These include:
Foundation Year 2 (FY2) – a qualified doctor who has completed their medical degree and on placement to learn general practice.
Physician Associates (PA) – students who are completing a master’s degree specific to medicine. Placements are completed by PAs in a variety of fields including general practice.
Medical Students (other) – this may include paramedics, nurses, mental health practitioners who are looking to advance their current skills and/or be introduced/gain knowledge in primary care.
Patients will always be informed if there are any medical students in attendance. If you do not wish them to be present within your consultation, please tell the doctor, nurse or healthcare professional you are there to see.
Practice Performance
The performance of our surgery is measured through many ways. The CQC (link to section above) will use different data measures to help inform their inspection. These include:
- GP Patient Survey – independently run by Ipsos Mori on behalf of NHS England
- Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) – a voluntary annual reward with the objective to improve the care patients are given and therefore reward good practice
- Public Health England (PHE) – National General Practice profile summary
Primary Care Network
We are a member of the North Norfolk (NN) 3 Primary Care Network (PCN). This means we will be working closely with neighbouring practices and local organisations to provide health services to you.
NN3 PCN member practices are:

In working together, we can seek to be more efficient and targeted in the services provided to you including making appointments available outside of core opening hours, see (link to enhanced access in appointments page) Enhanced Access for more information.
During any collaboration within the PCN we may share your information with these practices and local organisations. This will only be where necessary for healthcare purposes, with the appropriate agreements in place and in compliance with general data protection law.
Private Work
To make an enquiry about private work, please contact us for a routine appointment (link to Routine Appointments/Queries)
Our GP practice is an independent business which holds an NHS contract. This covers most healthcare services to patients and keeps them free of charge. Work that is requested and carried out by our GPs which is non-NHS work will incur a private fee to the patient of a requesting organisation. Examples include:
- Department of Social Security (DSS) e.g., benefit reports
- Employment e.g., medicals and/or reports
- Insurance e.g., medical certificates, assessments and/or reports
- Driving e.g., insurance, medicals and/or reports
- Sport e.g., fitness certificates and/or reports
- Travel e.g., cancellation reports, fitness certificates, insurance, prescriptions and/or vaccinations (where not NHS)
- Letters requested by, or on behalf of the patient (‘To whom it may concern’ letters)
We will let you know if a service being requested/provided is non-NHS work and any fee’s due before commencing. Patients are expected to pay for private services before collecting any completed paperwork, reports and/or receiving a medical appointment.
There are some private requests where our GPs are not able to assist. These include:
- Confirmation of address or residence
- Countersignature of passport applications
- Any letter where your medical record is unable to provide evidential support
- References e.g. for work applications
- Blue badge parking permits (GP letters will not be accepted by our local councils)
- Any service covered by an NHS contract where we have opted-out (we are not permitted to provide any such service privately under these circumstances)
Please be aware our GPs are unable to commit to any requests for specific wording in reports. Any written work will be completed according to how the GP considers this to be appropriate.
Our NHS work will always take priority over non-NHS work. We will try to meet with your time expectations but politely request that you give us at least 28 days’ notice for your request to be actioned.
